Omnisens officially announces ‘ODAS’, its new generation of DAS interrogator for the Test and Measurement market
Morges, May 2020
Today Omnisens SA, the Swiss supplier of distributed fiber optic sensing systems and instruments, has announced the release of ODAS, its new family of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) interrogators.
“ODAS is an amazingly performant new device which brings us a versatile acoustic sensing platform. Its performance and open format will not only help us consolidating our leadership position in the O&G and Power Cable markets but, also allow us pushing boundaries and opening new sensing possibilities” says Matthieu Currat, C.O.O. at Omnisens SA.
The new DAS platform combines a patented chirped pulse laser technology with Omnisens’ novel techniques on programmable chirp coding and modulation (patent pending), enabling an intrinsically linear response whilst being insensitive to polarization and Rayleigh fading. The result is a new generation of instruments that blends an outstanding performance with a long sensing reach.
The software package, building upon Omnisens’ long acoustic field experience, includes a combination of signal processing, advanced mathematical modelling and machine learning that can be built in application specific modules to process and classify events while minimizing false alarms. In addition, it features:
“ODAS will set-up a new benchmark for DAS instruments in the industry and more than double the total available market for Omnisens!” says Marc Degrauwe, Chairman at Omnisens SA. “Our customers and partners have warmly welcomed the features and performance of this technology which consolidates Omnisens’ position as the most comprehensive solution provider in distributed sensing techniques”.
ODAS represents the culmination of four years of intense engineering efforts by Omnisens, leveraging on the latest advancements in the field made by the University of Alcala in Spain, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and the University of Applied Science (HE-ARC), both in Switzerland.
