OMNISENS was created in 1999 as a spin-off company of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL 
). From its beginnings, Omnisens has been determined to be a producer of the highest quality instrumentation and systems based on optical metrology and photonics.
The company has pioneered laser-based photo-acoustic spectroscopy and fiber optic distributed sensing leading to the development of unmatched products performance and solutions for emerging markets requirements. This philosophy has been continued through extensive research and development in order to maintain a position at the forefront of new optical sensing techniques.
Omnisens is organized around two separated business divisions each focusing on a different core technology. Within each business division, Omnisens provides solutions to a wide range of industries with specific needs and requirements.

Omnisens is based in Switzerland with a subsidiary in the USA and teams with specialized solution providers and resellers in the Far East, Japan, Europe and North America.
